Josh began his career as a town planner for Pittwater Council (now Northern Beaches Council). He gained a vast amount of experience while working at Pittwater particularly in regards to merit assessments, visual impact assessments, privacy and acoustic impact assessments and view loss assessments.
Following Pittwater Council, josh gained employment at Singleton Council as a development planner before moving into the Coordinator of Planning role for the Council. While working at Singleton he gained experience in rural planning and in particular, large subdivisions, poultry farms and large petrol stations.
Josh then made the move into Private planning and worked for a number of firms gaining experience in rezonings (planning proposals), designated development (environmental impacts statements) and project management. During his time in private practice he worked on several objection letters and obtained the title of “Objection King” resulting in some amazing outcomes for his clients.
With a broad experience working in Local Government and Private Planning industry, Josh brings a wealth of knowledge to the firm that can only come through years of practical on the job experience. Josh’s skillset is finding pathways to gain approval for clients where other planners fail.
Mel began her career in retail working for some prestigious retail chains before finding a career in Finance working for one of Australia’s top financial institutions. During that time Mel learnt the value of customer service and delivering services on time and on budget for her clients.
Mel keeps the wheels turning at Outlook Planning and Development and assists the team with everything they do. Mel brings a strong customer service focus and project management skills to the business.

Grace is a valued asset of the team with a strong work ethic and great customer service skills. Grace began her career in hospitality working at cafes and restaurants while working through her university studies.

Having worked on both sides of the planning table our planners know the ins and outs of handling the development process through the gauntlet that is Council. We know how to navigate all the relevant legislation and our speciality is finding loop holes or “Creative” planning ways to gain approval.

Our Principal Planner has a wealth of experience starting his career working from the ground up at a prominent Sydney Council before transitioning into a management role coordinating the whole planning and compliance area of Council. After several years working in Local Government Planning he made the jump to the private planning world and achieved great results working on large scale projects that broadened his skills and knowledge. All this has culminated in a diverse skillset with a deep knowledge of the processes and workings of Council and the ability to find innovative approaches to developments that help our clients gain approval where others fail. It was his passion for dealing with clients combined with over 10 years experience that lead him to create Outlook Planning and Development.
Approximately 90% of our projects are located in Sydney and regularly work with Councils such as Blacktown Council, Campbelltown Council, Camden Council, Georges River Council, Mosman Council, Hills Shire Council, Parramatta Council, Ku-Ring-Gai Council, North Sydney Council, City of Sydney Council, Northern Beaches Council, Randwick City Council, Woollahra Council, Hornsby Council and Inner West Council.
We also regularly deal with regional Councils such as Central Coast Council, Mid North Coast Council, Newcastle Council, Lake Macquarie City Council, Singleton Council, Cessnock Council, Maitland Council and Port Stephens Council.
